2011 SOAPBOX
THE SESQUINCENTENNIAL KSQP

N0NB
Clearly, an improvement in QTH away from in-town noise and with better antennas would provide a better result. Still, I was amazed at the number of ops, particularly in Europe, who were able to dig me out and my apologies to those who could hear me that I just could not dig out of the noise. CW was the money mode from a performance limited station. Phone was an exercise in frustration and PSK31 gave a nice break with a surprising number of stations familiar with the exchange.

No, I came nowhere close to qualifying for the award for spelling KANSAS or SUNFLOWER. My intention was to keep N0N available for everyone else to work and I hope I fulfilled that goal. As a weak signal getting spotted on the cluster didn't seem to happen so I self-spotted solely in
an effort to increase my visibility to those needing to work N0N. I think it was more important to promote the special event aspect of my operation than any bump in personal score.

Again the K3 performed without complaint. Unless someone happened within my passband, I couldn't tell if anyone else was on the band! Another worthwhile addition was stringing up a 20/15/10m trap dipole prior to the QP. This antenna offered a much improved signal to noise
over my ground mounted 4BTV so that many stations in EU and other areas were worked than I would have done otherwise.

Conditions were much improved over last year. On Saturday 40m amazed me with quite short contacts especially off my vertical. I made several QSO's within 150 miles. On Sunday 40m and 20m were much longer with no close in QSOs on 40m and plenty of EU QSOs on 20m and a handful on 15m.

Hopefully, everyone had fun. Modest station improvements on my end and better propagation kept me more busy this year than last. Perhaps we can do the 1x1 special event calls every five or ten years to boost activity in the KQP. Many thanks to W0BH and the crew for a well done
event.

Only played in the contest on Sunday but had a good time. Sounds like there was lots of activity on both days from what I heard Saturday while doing the Ohio QSO party.

AE1T
Thanks to ops for being patient.  Antenna stuck pointing north because of Irene.

EA6AZ
My First KS QSO Party. Looking for counties and giving the chance to work EA6 all others. 73 and good job.

K0A/KC0AHN
The Boeing Employees Amateur Radio Society (BEARS) operated K0A for a 100 point Bonus station.  We operated three stations and gave out 717 Bonus Qs – thanks to all the operators!

This year, Brian Moran, N6MNE, is a steady, silent contributor to the KS QSO Party.  Brian authors the software that has reduced the time to score the contest by a factor of 10!  Thank you, Brian!

Thank you to Bob Harder, W0BH, for his creativity and coordination in preparation of this years 1x1 calls and special awards.  Without his hard work and dedication, we wouldn’t have DOUBLED the number of logs submitted! – Randy, N0LD

K0E/AD0DX
First time mobile in a contest, had a great time.

K0LDS
A JOY TO WORK THE KANSAS QSO PARTY...I'M GETTING CLOSE TO WORKED ALL KANSAS!  THANKS!

K0PVW
First of all I worked a couple of the mobile stations out there and I want to say a big thanks to the ones that had the patience to accept my slow CW!  CW is not a strong point, but this may be a driving factor to get back in and get proficient at it again.  Thanks again for being willing to work the slow operator.  - Rob

K0RU
Wow just checked I have 118 confirmed already for N0A via LOTW wow... Haven't spent 1 dime in postage for those hahaha!

K0S/W0BH
Bob has a rather lengthy entry, so we are linking to his 3830 write-up . Enjoy!

It seems like year after year KSQP is becoming more and more popular. IMO even the number of the DX stations participating in KSQP have increased which leads to a conclusion that good organization and planning has been put in place. I am very proud to be selected to run one of the 1x1 calls and gave my best to provide the "W" to as many stations as possible. I was QRV most of the day on Saturday.  Unfortunately, due to some family obligations I could not avoid, I was only able to be QRV for only 30 minutes on Sunday.  Anyway, great fun is all I had and I am looking forward to next year's KSQP.  Big thanks to the organizers of this great event!   73 Dragan K0AP, Z32XX

Thanks for all activity.  It was fun to work the 1 X 1 callsign stations to qualify for the special certificate.
