Kansas QSO Party

It was a lot of fun

AB2TC

CONDX NOT AS GOOD AS LAST YEAR, ESPECIALLY POOR ON SUNDAY. ANYWAY GREAT FUN.

DL3DXX

KS stations were a little hard to find in between the OH stations. But each 'hit' was fun. Thanks for the activity on 20m, my only chance here in DX-land. Couldn't afford to stay up until late on sunday. Hopefully next year.

Despite all the issues we had along the way it was so much fun activating KS counties, some literally in the middle of nowhere. When I lived in Z3 Macedonia I loved chasing counties. Now, the hunter became hunted. Who was going to bet that this will happen to me 10 years after, hi! Anyway, Rob K0RU has invited me to join him in this adventure which I gladly accepted without much hesitation. He generously offered my call sign to be used for this operation and I thank him for that very much. We did not activate all counties we planned to but still managed to activate 22 of them. Notable was working DL3DXX from 14 counties, N6MU 19, W7GVE 18, NT2A 15, KO1U 14 etc...
CU next year.

K0AP

Many thanks for sponsoring. This was a lot of fun! I caught KC0AHN at sundown with a 30 over 9 signal. What short skip!

K0BJ

Great contest, great fun. Conditions favored 20 meters but 40 meters was also good on Sunday. Very little activity on 80 meters, especially CW which might be contributed to the cutoff hour of 0200 UTC. Nothing heard on 15 or 10 meters. I was surprised at the sparse CW participation on all bands. Even though running high power, it was difficult to get CW QSOs on any band. Thanks to all who provided me with a QSO and especially a big thanks to the Kansas QSO Party organizers. I look forward to the next Kansas QSO Party.

K0VXU

Was busy this weekend only had a few minuits here and there. Had Fun 73

I JUST UPGRADED TO GENERAL CLASS TWO WEEKS AGO. THIS WAS A FUN PARTY TO DO. I WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS AGAIN (AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN......)

KD0IJN

I was making three times as many KS qsos as OH qsos so I changed over to N1MM and logged with it to the end. Thanks for your work putting on this event and my thanks to all the mobiles who put on miles to make all the counties available. It's a big job. Thanks for hosting the party, it's fun. See y'all in the 7QP next May.

K4XU

Operated only CW The bands were not fast and when they were not slow they were half-fast. The mobiles had good signals. Did not hear much on 80-meters. Sunday was fun.

KN4Y

I started on 40 CW at 1400z on Saturday and there was a crowd waiting and had the best run of the party during the first 25 minutes. After that it was a lot of calling until I'd change bands or mode. Given that there would be mini-runs whenever I'd change bands or mode, I figured I was spotted on the cluster. The surprise had to be working DL3DXX on 20 CW at 1819z on Saturday. Another surprise was local Bob, KC0TYG, heading out to try and work the party from Washington and Republic counties giving me a call on 20m SSB for Kansas. Then I went down to 20 CW and prompted heard K0AP calling /MSH! So I worked him and when I gave him my exchange of MSH there was a pause as though he didn't expect that! Later I checked his QRZ page where he listed the rover schedule and I sent Dragan an email and he confirmed that working another MSH station was indeed a surprise. Overall, conditions were poor with an SFI of 76 and 74 and an A index at 14 to start with on Saturday. Still my FT-920 and ground mounted 4BTV did fairly well. Hopefully next year will have better conditions.

Thanks to the organizers and sponsors of the Kansas QSO Party. Also thanks to those who heard my meager signal from Noth Carolina. (A former Olathe resident 1997-2002.)

N3KKM

First time for your contest. Thanks to all mobiles who made the county qso's possible.

N3RJ

Propagation into the Houston area was virtually non-existent on Saturday but picked up nicely Sunday morning only to vanish again as the party came to a close. In fact in W0BH's last county line operation I couldn't break through the pile. Great fun even though the Q count is rather low

NO5W

I was really disappointed that I didn't get to spend much time on the air. I kept getting called away for emergencies at my job. Looking forward to next year. Sure was a great bunch of Rovers out there this year....looking forward to seeing the results of their effort.

N7UR

Here's my puny log for this year's qso party. Unfortunately, there's lots to do outside while the weather holds up. Out here in the Pacific Northwest, gotta take advantage of the non-rainy days' HI!

I've only had my ticket since November of last year, and this is my second real attempt at doing a contest.

I had a blast. The bands were responsive and I had a surpising number of pile-ups on my humble little station on 20 meters. More than 2/3's of my time was spent working PSK with the balance on Phone contacts. I never had the need to leave 20 meters for the whole contests.

Thanks to all the folks who sponsered and/or managed the event. The event made for a great weekend for this Kansas "Rookie".

W0AVE

Late start on the contest, spent the first few hours mentoring a new general class op. Thanks to the great operators out there that showed him patience!

W0SY

Lots of great activity. Thanks for keeping it going. Without the mobiles most qso partys would be over in a hurry. Many thanks to them for keeping the action going. Lots of activity this weekend with OHqp, KSqp, YO dx and HIqp. Thanks to all for great time. Rig was TS830S (100w), Butternut HF6V vertical.

W1END

Thanks for sponsoring, organizing, and administering this event.

W4JHU

Good Job on the Party! Thanks. OVER 30 YEARS AGO I LIVED IN KANSAS, MY CALL KØCML I SURE ENJOYED THE QSO PARTY. THANKS TO ALL THE GREAT MOBILE'S THAT WERE RUNNING! Condx were generally good. Lot of QSB Sunday afternoon. Glad to hear you still remember one of the Greatest Hams of all time WØAM (WØINH)(W5MKL/m) CW Wade Goodland, my elmer!

W4OV

Not much action on 80/75 : prop seemed short for WNY on both 40 and 20 mobiles kept everybody happy-happy. Thanks!

WB2ABD

I had fun in the Kansas QSO Party; thanks so much for sponsoring it! Hope to hear several of you in the Texas QSO Party next month.

Come on down and be a Texan for a weekend if you can swing it! Had a lot of fun in the KS QSO party. Conditions not as good as last year, though, nor as much activity. Used a Ten-Tec Omni VI @ 5 watts and a 100m horizontal loop. WB0SMZ had a great QRP signal. Submitted my log to LoTW.

W5ESE

It was most enjoyable to add 10 new counties to my list. Appreciate the mobiles that made it possible. Gentleman, Enjoyed the QSO Party.

WA5TRX

More fun than a herd of turtles!  FT-817, 5 watts, Hustler vertical.  20 went dead here at 1700 UTC Sunday and never came back.  TNX K0RU and K0TP fer the Qs.  Also a huge TNX to Bob, W0BH for digging me out of the mud in the pig pen!  Got both bonus stations! I’m happy as a Kansas pig at a slop trough filled with cold watermelon rinds, oink-oink.  TNX all of u fer a fun weekend! 73, 72, Ken.

I had hoped to catch W0BH in a few counties...The few turned out to be many with the other mobile and fixed stations it tuned out to be a busy, fun QP! Also, I had hoped to pick up one or two of the 4 counties I needd in KS. Instead, I picked up all 4! When I worked W0BH on the GRM-ROO CL that completed all 105! A county hunters dream come true! Great fun, great ops KS is a pretty state! 73, Ed.

W7GVE

One qso on 40 meters...all the rest on 20 meters! Listened on 15 and 80 meters with no luck! Usuaully run N3FJP softweare but it doesn’t support the KS QSO Party...bummer! c u in 2011.

W6USN (W7MH Op)
Info was sent to N3FJP, but they no longer add new event support. We tried - kb0rwi

aturday wa good but not much was happening on Sundy. I did not make any Kansas contacts.

AB0UO
Great QSO Party! I enjoyed following the mobiles around as well as searching for the fixed stations. Worked Kearny for my last Kansas County for USA-CA. Special thanks to Bob, W0BH, for that one.

N4VA
Worked the two stations I heard. Very high QRN from power transformers here in condo. Just wanted to add my entry to the number of participants.
